Havana, FL is Named After the Cuban City

Havana is a suburb of Tallahassee, FL in Gadsden County.

Havana, FL has something else in common with Havana, Cuba: they both were major cigar manufacturing cities until a few decades ago (this is how Havana, FL was named). Although the cigar industry eventually left Havana, FL for Central America, in 1982 a couple of antique shop owners - Henderson and Lee Hotchkiss - took a risk and purchased a block of buildings on Main Street. This was the beginning of Havana becoming the art and antique destination it is today.
